BREAKFAST CLUB

Breakfast Club is open to all children from Speers Point School. We offer breakfast with a healthy menu, support and opportunity for children to develop and improve social skills, punctuality and behaviour.

Parents and carers need to sign a permission note to join. Note available at Breakfast Club or at school’s office. All volunteers at Breakfast Club have a current Working with Children Check.

GARDEN GROUP

Come and join our Garden Group! Open to anyone! – experienced and new gardeners as well as people who have a passion for the outdoors and meeting people.

This is an exciting way to;
· meet new people with a similar interest
· provide great opportunities to share ideas & tips
· assist with maintaining our local Vegetable Garden (which provides produce for our Food and Info Hub & families of Boolaroo School) and the Sensory Garden
· socialise, have a cuppa together and learn together!

Our Community Place will provide a venue and refreshments for get-togethers.

WOMEN’S SHED ON THE LAKE

Women Shed on the Lake is an inclusive group for women of all ages. We invite women to come along to enjoy friendship, workshops, activities, support & encouragement, and of course, a cuppa and a chat!

Women’s Shed on the Lake meets on Fridays usually from 9.30am to 11.30am. See Activity program for full details. We encourage a small fee to help cover our costs (eg. hall hire, resources etc.)

FOOD AND INFO HUB

Food and Info Hub is run weekly (in partnership with OzHarvest and Orange Sky). The Food and Info Hub provides;

  • Groceries for individuals and families from Boolaroo (and surrounding suburbs) who are struggling financially.
  • Information, referral and support
  • Free laundry service (courtesy of the Orange Sky laundry van)
  • Morning tea is available

To register and get assistance please contact Our Community Place on 4958 7251. Please bring your current Centrelink card and a recent Centrelink statement of income to your appointment.

Donations are welcome.. We are always appreciative of any food (or cash) donations for our Food and Info Hub. In particular we need ‘in date’ milk (long life only) and eggs.

LUNCH HUB

Lunch Hub is a free  two course, sit down community lunch on Mondays (fortnightly) at the PCYC Lake Macquarie (Lake St, Windale). The lunch is prepared by a great team of volunteers

The meal is open to anyone, however, we encourage people and families who are experiencing loneliness or isolation, homelessness, domestic violence issues, financial or other hardship to come along.

We like to support families and single parents with young children to join us. The lunch is family friendly and we provide a small Kids Corner (for under 5’s) available with a few toys etc.

Please Note: Any guests under the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by an adult, or, have a parent or guardian sign a consent form to come along.

YOUNG PARENTS GROUP

We have recently joined a group of organisations in partnering to facilitate the Young Parents Group which meets at The Place at Charlestown Square.

Young Parents Group is a social group for parents who are in their teens and 20’s and their children, to meet, make friends and share information.

Idea’s and suggestions for activities of interest are welcome.

Children’s toys are available. Free to Attend. Refreshments provided.
